This was my first real role aside from being a student, and it was so cool! I worked primarily for a Genomics Lab at Clemson, and later for a HPC company once I graduated. The collaborative nature of academia is amazing. Everyone is doing crazy research on limited funds and helping each other out via democratization. I got to work with researchers around the world across a ton of different domains and platforms. Paradigms like “Science DMZ” and “Midscale Research Testbed” were new to me. I also got my first experience with containerization and Kubernetes. I also got to publish and present some papers which I am very proud of.
